to the Inaugural Texas Diversity Conference GLBT Summit!
Welcome to the 2008 Inaugural Texas GLBT Summit. It is my privilege to be honorary chair as the Texas Diversity Council reaches further in its mission of celebrating diversity by hosting its first GLBT Summit on May 14, 2008. The Texas Diversity & Leadership Conference not only embraces our differences, but it also makes critical contributions to the issues and topics that are most important to us in our workplaces.
Presidential election years always hold more challenges, promises and renewed excitement than any other time. With the fate of ENDA still pending, 2008 is poised to be a historic year on many issues and topics. There are opportunities to create significant protections on a state and local level as well as the inspiration for larger changes through the Texas Diversity & Leadership Conference and the GLBT Summit.
We have the support of the Texas Diversity Council, its community and all its corporate sponsors. Such strong support and commitment in Texas is a powerful message of hope and optimism. One of the most distinctively unique features of the GLBT movement is the vast array of individuals it includes. A key success is the different ways we express our individuality, moving well beyond traditional definitions. This Inaugural Summit will take the collective and individual determination of our entire community. The power of this opportunity is to come together to create the freedom to be an individual in your workplace. The freedom to express this individuality is a source of inspiration that shapes our environment, how we work with colleagues, and the way we feel about our workplace. This freedom is yours to advance.
